U.C. Berkeley

I am amazed at the wonderful company I'll be surrounded by for the next 6 weeks. For many participants, this is their 2nd or 3rd Fulbright experience, and they thrive on traveling and learning on OPM ("other people's money" :). Everyone is enthusiastic to learn, dive into Indian culture, share teaching ideas, and bring back resources for their schools.

The orientation at U.C. Berkeley's Center for South Asia Studies has been fantastic and intense. Each day has been jammed packed with wonderful speakers - professors of Berkley - discussing topics ranging from colonialism, gender issues, political trends, water issues, to textiles.

We have been told (and I remember from my volunteer experience in Delhi) that India will be an "assault of the senses." Tomorrow is a long day of travel from San Fran. to Newark to Delhi, but I can't wait to return to India and awake my senses again.
